Power BI: States Project

This project was designed to explore the relationship between poverty, crime, and education on income at the state level.

My first step was combining multiple online databases into one Excel file. Next I cleaned/normalized the data. After the data was prepared, I loaded all tables into Power BI.

My first page was for violent crime. I added slicers and displayed state crime rates in cards. I created a a helper table to highlight each state selected while keeping the rest of the information.

My second page displayed income information. I used a clustered bar chart to display state poverty rates. States below the national average are colored in green and those above are red. I created a fill map to display median income, with states above the national average colored green and below average in red.

The third page displays education information with a table on one side and a stacked bar chart on the other.

The fourth page is a summary page that shows each state's ranking in poverty, violent crime, education, and median income.
